Restoring Force Closure/Motor Control of the Thorax is a new chapter contributed by Linda-Joy Lee and contains vital information for an exercise program aimed at stabilization of the thorax. The information is still empirical since research is lacking in this area and comes primarily from clinical experience. This chapter reviews the concepts of load transfer through the body, the anatomy and function of the lumbopelvic core (Lee D G, 2004, The Pelvic Girdle) and the application of this protocol for stabilization of the thorax.
