In 2004, she obtained her Fellowship in the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapy (FCAMT) and became certified in IMS (dry needling for trigger point release) in 2006. Shelley has an interest in orthopedics and sports injuries and has considerable experience treating athletes from a variety of sports. She spent two years doing on field training for the Bayside Rugby Club and worked with Flip City Gymnastics club doing athlete screening and treatment. She also worked with Sport Med BC for two years doing Functional Screening of Athletes from a variety of sports. She has also worked with national level cyclists and was the consulting physiotherapist with Symmetrics, a pro cycling team. Shelley is passionate about injury prevention in youth and in helping them move and grow into their changing bodies.

Shelley enjoys educating both clients and other health professionals. She has developed and led a workshop for Personal Trainers; she assists on courses taught by Diane Lee and is a mentor with the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapy (www.manippt.org). She works closely with Personal Trainers screening clients and then helping them design exercise programs that correct their imbalances and optimize their function. Shelley also incorporates the use of ultrasound imaging to help educate clients on optimal muscle recruitment strategies for core stability and also uses this tool in biofeedback training during exercise instruction.

In university Shelley played varsity volleyball and her love for athletics has continued through her adult years. She has participated in hockey, football, soccer, and baseball and most recently has taken up kickboxing. Her passion for active living and lifelong exercise is what motivates her to work alongside her clients to help empower them to be able to enjoy exercise, regardless of what season of life they are in.
